Lithography Printing Made Simple

Lithography is a printing process that traditionally uses a flat stone or metal plate. Artists use greasy drawing materials to make original images, text or to explore textures onto the stones or metal plates; which are then printed onto paper. The process was invented in 1796 by author and actor Alois Senefelder while experimenting to find a cheap method of reproducing theatrical works. Explore the Riverside Gallery’s new exhibition by Oaks Editions Lithography Studio to discover more about this fascinating printmaking medium.

Try your hand at lithograph printing in our one-day Lithography Printing Made Simple workshop. Learn how to use everyday materials to create and print four plates. Suitable for artists of all levels, including beginners.
