Volunteer
Could you help us build community through creativity?
Volunteering is an enjoyable, meaningful and rewarding experience, allowing you to get involved and give back to the local community, develop skills, and experience art in a contemporary gallery and museum environment.
Our varied volunteer roles can provide you with the opportunity to develop your skills and experience for a career in the creative sector, or meet new people and enjoy your time in a friendly environment. Whether you’re an art enthusiast, a budding storyteller, or a green fingered gardener, we have opportunities for you to get involved with and be at the heart of the action.
Our fantastic volunteers are an integral part of Orleans House Gallery as valued members of our team. They support the gallery and programme in a wide range of roles across every aspect of the service.
With your support, we can continue to share and promote arts and culture to the community, including the stories of our history and the importance of the 4000+ artworks that comprise the Richmond Borough Art Collection, as well as provide a high quality visitor experience.
Immerse yourself in our exhibitions and programme, share your knowledge and passion with our visitors, and help us engage to inspire current and future generations.
Apply
To apply to be a volunteer at Orleans House Gallery, please complete the online application form below.
We are currently looking for volunteers to support us on weekends, however all applications are welcome.
We also support other partners with volunteer opportunities, which you can find at the bottom of the page.
Who can volunteer?
You don’t need to have any experience of volunteering; all we ask for is an enthusiasm for our art and history and a willingness to learn new skills and information.
We will provide relevant training, supervision and support for you to be successful in your role.
At present, we are only able to accept volunteers aged 18 or older. We are currently redeveloping our career development programme that will support those looking to start a career in the cultural sector, including work experience and voluntary placements. We will have information on this page when available.
The commitment we ask for varies for each role, but we are flexible regarding the time you can give to support us, as well as trying out the roles we have available.
Our Roles
We are currently recruiting for the roles outlined in the descriptions below.
Due to the popularity of some roles, we may start you in an alternative role to allow you to volunteer. We will discuss this with you if this is the case.
Partner Opportunities
We’re launching a brand new festival this Summer, the Richmond Arts and Ideas Festival, where you can explore a wide range of events and activities happening throughout the borough.
Part of the festival is Luke Jerram’s Gaia, an awe-inspiring sight. Measuring seven metres in diameter and suspended inside the Landmark Arts Centre, Gaia features high-resolution NASA imagery of the Earth’s surface and features surround sound composition by BAFTA award-winning composer, Dan Jones.
